An attempted traffic stop leads to high speed pursuit

On May 10th, 2020 at approximately 11:45 PM, Jennings County Sheriff's Office Canine Sergeant Cody Low attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Blue 2007 Blue Kia Rio for a traffic violation on Whittington Drive in Country Squire Lakes. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as David E. Turner (age 40 of North Vernon), fled from Sergeant Low at a high rate of speed leading deputies on a pursuit with speeds exceeding 70 mph. Turner then pulled his vehicle behind a residence on Stoningham Way where his vehicle became disabled.
Turner then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, Sgt. Low was able to apprehend Turner in a creek. During Turner's arrest, prescription pills and Methamphetamine were located on Turner. Turner was also found to be wanted on an active arrest warrant through Jennings County.
